Travel to Fontenay

Are you planning a trip to France? Please consider visiting Fontenay-le-Comte! Whether you are alone, with your family or a group, you are a welcome visitor!

It is easy to reach Fontenay from Paris. You can rent a car and drive through the wonderful countryside, seeing castles in the distance and fields of red poppies. The drive is about 3 hours. The main roads are well marked and well kept up. Note that there are tolls to drive on the main highway, which can get quite expensive.

Or sit back and enjoy the TGV fast train, where you will ride past farms and towns alike. The TGV has a great website where you can order your tickets in advance (highly recommended). The ride to Niort is about 2 hours. Your host family can pick you up at Niort and drive you to Fontenay (about 20 minutes).

Host Families

Whether you want to spend the day or stay for weeks, we will do our best to coordinate a place for you to stay in Fontenay-le-Comte or to enjoy a personal guided tour of our Sister City.

If you are interested in staying with a Host Family or want to enjoy a tour of Fontenay-le-Comte, call Susan Minott at 847-359-9054 or email sminott@palatinesistercities.org

Group Visits

Every year or two we have organized group visits to Fontenay. In the past, the groups have ranged from 15 to 30 people. We've had several artists' visits and a culinary tour. Every two years, Fontenay hosts a celebration with all its Sister Cities called the Biennale. For more information about upcoming group trips, please contact Susan Minott.
