Where can I speak French?

One place you can speak French is at our monthly French Nights. Our members include native speakers, teachers, and enthusiastic learners.

Alliance Française de Chicago - gathering place for people interested in all aspects of France and French speaking cultures. The curriculum ranges from French language courses to classes specializing in history, culture and business. As a cultural center, it sponsors many programs open to the public.

Groupe Professionnel Francophone - provides a unique opportunity for Chicago area French speakers to meet in a friendly and welcoming setting. Meetings are the last Thursday of the month at the Great Street Restaurant, in the Renaissance Hotel (State & Wacker) starting at 5:30pm.

Union des Français de l'Etranger de Chicago (UFEC) - lots of cultural activities centered in Chicago for French living abroad; they're broadening their mission to include people interested in French language and culture. Check the e-Bulletins for activities, news and recipes each month.

French Consulate in Chicago -

Les Bavards, an informal group of French speakers (native and non-native), meets monthly over dinner at a Northwest suburban restaurant to practice the language. The only requirement is the ability to listen or converse in French. Those with rusty skills are welcome, too. Meeting time is 6:30 pm on the first Wenesday of the month. Venez-vous joindre a nous! For more information or to join the e-mailing list, call Sally Lipscomb (847-698-9480) or e-mail lesbavards@yahoo.com

There's also Les Bavards du Nord, which meets Saturday at 1pm at Berruti's Deli, 771 S. Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove. RSVP to lesBavardsduNord@yahoo.com or call 847-921-7864 by the preceding Thursday.
